Privacy Policy

At Squicorn (松鼠听写), we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Squicorn mobile application (“App”).

1. Data Collection and Use

  • Core Functionality: The App’s core function is photo-based OCR. By default, photos and recognition results are processed on-device and are not uploaded to our own servers
  • Information You Actively Provide: We collect information only when you submit issue feedback, such as contact details, issue descriptions, and screenshots
  • Issue-Diagnostic Information: Only in issue feedback scenarios, we may receive necessary technical details (for example, device model, OS version, and crash logs) to diagnose and fix problems
  • Information We Do NOT Collect: The App currently has no sign-up/login feature, so we do not collect account registration data
  • How We Use Information: To provide photo OCR and voice control features, handle issue feedback, and protect app security

2. Permission Usage

  • Camera: Used to capture photos for OCR recognition
  • Microphone: Used for voice control features

3. Offline Processing

Squicorn is designed with privacy in mind:

  • Local OCR: All OCR processing happens on your device without internet connection
  • Local Storage: Your photos, word banks, and practice history are stored only on your device
  • No Cloud Sync: By default, your data is not synchronized to cloud servers
  • No Account System: The current version does not require sign-up or login
  • Complete Control: You can delete all your data by uninstalling the App

4. Third-Party Services and SDK Usage

  • OCR Recognition: OCR recognition is processed locally on-device and does not use third-party OCR services
  • System TTS: Voice playback uses text-to-speech capabilities provided by the operating system
  • App Rating: App rating uses system-provided rating capability (such as App Store rating)
  • Safari Browser: Links within the App (such as Privacy Policy and Terms of Service) are opened in-app via the system Safari browser component. These requests are handled by Safari itself, not through the App’s own network stack
  • RevenueCat: Subscription capabilities are provided by revenuecat.com for subscription management

We do not sell personal information.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

  • Data Minimization: The App is offline-first and does not proactively collect data unrelated to issue troubleshooting
  • Secure Storage: Local device data is protected by iOS security features
  • Access Controls: Limited access to personal data by authorized personnel only

6. User Rights

You have the following rights:

  • Right to Know: Understand how we collect and use your information
  • Right to Decide: Decide whether to provide information to us (for example, whether to submit issue feedback)
  • Right to Access: Request access to personal information you have actively provided to us
  • Right to Delete: Request deletion of personal information you have actively provided (where legally applicable)
  • Right to Complain: Submit complaints regarding personal information handling

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is suitable for children. It is an offline learning app with no sign-up feature and does not collect children’s personal information by default.

If a child submits issue feedback with a parent/guardian and includes personal information, the parent/guardian may contact us to request deletion of that information.

8. International Data Transfers

Because the App is primarily offline, cross-border data transfers are generally not involved. Limited transfer may occur only when you actively submit issue feedback through communication services.

9. Data Retention

  • Feedback Data: Retained only for a reasonable period necessary to resolve and review reported issues
  • Device Data: Deleted when you uninstall the App

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through:

  • In-app notifications
  • Email (if you have provided one)
  • Updated “Effective Date” at the top of this policy

Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
